Safe Boating Press Conference

The other day, I joined Acting Police Commissioner Stuart Cameron and Gina Lieneck at a press conference to remind people about boater safety, as we enter the July 4th holiday weekend. Gina is the mother of Brianna Lieneck, who tragically passed away at the age of 11 in a boating accident. Gina, thank you so much for being there as you are an inspiration to us all!

While the July 4th weekend is a time of celebration of our country, fun and summer, it is also a time people can forget the dangers of boating while intoxicated. Please, don’t drink and drive, whether it is on the road or on the water. The Suffolk County Police will be out enforcing the law, and my office will hold anyone accountable that puts the lives of others and their own at risk.
